Adorable! we could work out some barter system - will work for cute dresses lol

Mouseinmypocket

This is really cute! Is it difficult to add piping to seams on clothes?

Robynie

Mouseinmypocket Well... this pattern called for mock piping on the seams, and I made it, but I was having trouble getting it sewn in evenly (to my perfectionist standards), so I decided to use true piping instead, as the cord makes it a lot easier to get an even stripe along the seam. I don't have a piping foot, so I used my zipper foot and that seemed to work just fine. However, now I'm not sure how to do the bottom hem because the piping can't fold the way the mock piping would've been able to... so I'm going to have to improvise a little... Long story short: yes and no.

Mouseinmypocket

could you remove the cording from the inside of the last 1/2 inch or so of piping - just whatever is going to be hemmed?

Mouseinmypocket

oh! And I would use a catch stitch to hem it.

So cute!

Jennifleur

Robynie , just remove the cording out of the piping sleeve right where it would fold into the seam. It'll be fiddily but it'll keep the weird bulkiness out of your hem.

Mouseinmypocket

It looks super on!

Rebecca

Looks fantastic Robynie ! I love the green top and the cording is a really nice addition! Hope you figure out how to get yourself out of it. smile

LOL hope you got out but good thing it's so pretty in case you can't;-)

Love this dress and it fits so well. Just looks awesome. About the blogging...if you can make such a cute dress that actually fits the person it is intended for, then no problem. You will breeze right through it.

Hope you got out of the dress...:)...its great...but just in case ...;)))...tie a ribbon to large safety pin, reach behind you and put safety pin through the zipper hole, let the ribbon dangle...reach around then pull on the ribbon...holding the top of the zipper if you can manage it with your other hand.....sounds like some crazy contortionist's trick but should work

Rebecca

Mymble For the win! That is a handy trick to know!
