Flower girl dress for LJ 2011 by Speattle
Swing dress from sew hip!
My Granddaughter was the "honorary" flower girl in a wedding last summer. My daughter was the maid of honor. Daughter asked me to make up a little dress for LJ to wear and to use the leftover fabric from Daughter's dress sash. There was only about 15 inches of the fabric, it was less than WOF, and part of that was burnt from an iron. I turned to my Sew Hip! magazine and found a little baby dress idea. I had to adapt it a bit for the baby and use a contrast for the waist band and hem binding (in wedding colors) and it turned out wonderfully. I made the 6 month size and even though LJ was 9 months old, it fit.
The hem binding and floral embellishment is a bit of leftover hand-dyed silk from which I sewed my daughter's high school prom gown.
After the wedding ceremony, the bridemaids all kicked off their shoes into a pile and the baby had a grand time playing with the pretty silver shoes.
