Description

This is a hat I made for my youngest, to shade him from the harsh TX sun. It's a highly modified version of the "Lets go fishing hat" from the book "Sewing for boys". I modified the brim so it was more perpendicular (and would provide more shade), increased the hat body height by an inch, added a strap, and shrank it all down a little to fit my 15 month old better. The fabric is from my husband's old pair of shorts that were stained. Yeah up cycling!

I love this hat. I wish I had the know-how to do one like it. And your babyboy is just too cute!

I really like your version of this - super cute! The pattern in the book is definitely not great looking for providing shade but it looks like your modifications worked quite well! Love the up-cycling too.

Quilt455 thanks! I do hope to make a pattern available soon! Ok, maybe not that soon, but eventually!

Great upcycle! Salvaging from fabric that is stained or otherwise damaged is an especially good feeling.
