Description

I'm going to make a scaled down version of one of the quilts for our group Pretty in Patchwork Holidays Sew Along for April.

I've been playing around with the Quilt Design Tool and came up with this version using some of my French General fabrics.  I wasn't quite sure how to set the quilt on point so you have to turn your head right now when looking at the picture.

This is my first attempt but the Design Tool is fun to use (of course I should have been cutting out another project I'm working on)!

Update: I'm not wonderfully on top of it but I've got things cut out and organized so now I'm putting together the blocks. My first one is a little wonky . . .

May 5th: My stars are getting better the more I make ! Now I'm playing with the placement on my design wall. Next step . . . pulling the top all together on point!

May 6th: The quilt top is pieced and ready to quilt! I've noticed after piecing on point that a few of my centers should have been shifted. My layout also changed so that's something I'll watch for next time! I've also decided against a narrow border as it was distracting from the stars. I don't think I'll have all the quilting done by the deadline but I really like how this one turned out! Lots of learning on this quilt . . .

Thanks True & Caribousmom . I'm not sure if this is quite the fabrics I'll be using but I do want to incorporate my French General fabrics. Just curious . . . do you know how to change the blocks to on point?

Sorry I hadn't gotten back to this Kathie - Alex just answered for someone else in the forums. Let me know if you have any questions. https://www.threadbias.com/groups/welcome-to-threadbias/forum_threads/questions-and-technical-issues/page/45/post_num/445#445

Thank you Skynme , Sewzalot & True ! I've been collecting and holding onto this collection for a while now. My first intro to French General was by my daughter when I made my first "real" quilt and I've loved it also! I'm almost done piecing the top!!
