Description

I needed practice sewing on binding since I'm making my first quilt and almost at the end, so I made this. No particular tutorial, just read a few different ones and then did my own thing.  I used English paper piecing to assemble the top.

The binding would have gone better if I hadn't accidentally bought single-fold instead of double-fold, thus making the binding half the width I'd planned. (I'm planning on making my own binding for the quilt, so it won't be subject to random shopping mishaps at least!) But it seems to have worked out okay in the end.  The stitches are slightly more visible on the back than I'd hoped, but by the end they were starting to become much less noticeable.

True

Great mug rug! And binding gets easier with each one:-)

Very nice! I love making mug rugs, and True is absolutely right about the binding. You'll definitely get better with each one you do. I used to dread creating mitered corners and finishing off the binding, but now I look forward to it.
