Description

I found this pixel chart graph pattern for Super Mario which had the total of squares needed for each colour used. I just made each square to be 5x5 and turned into a queen sized quilt!

It was very easy pattern to follow. I just kept the picture tacked on my board, and checked the rows off as I went to keep it organized. Cutting all those squares was a bit tedious though. I chose this as a project mostly because my husband would appreciate it (he loves mario) and also because I wanted to do something simple as my first big project on my new sewing machine. It's good for practicing those 1/4 seams! ;)

How fun!

Such a fun quilt. I love the giant size! Good for your for persevering and getting him quilted on your home machine!

Just curious, when cutting the squares, did you cut strips then subcut into squares? That can help things go faster but a queen size quilt still takes a lot of 5" squares so it can get tedious like you said. I always like to have a movie or show on when I'm doing stuff like that - preferably something I've seen before.

Rebecca I did do strips and then subcut which did help. :) It was over 300 5" squares when all the cutting was said and done, lol.

Glad you did strips and subcut - that's a lot of squares no matter how you have to cut them though.
