Description

Channeling my inner Laura Ingalls with this one! I made it with a charm pack of Urban Cowgirl by Urban Chiks for Moda and matching yardage. I used some yardage from Hometown by Sweetwater for the back and some extra squares of the charm pack. The binding is Painter's Canvas in brown by Laura Gunn. I did some hand stitching embellishment with no. 8 perle cotton on each 9 patch in yellow and cream. It finished at 32.5" by 39". Totally inspired by this quilt http://www.flickr.com/photos/blueelephantstitches/8370843489/ by Jolene at Blue Elephant Stitches. I adore all her quilts! Link is below under "Tutorial".

Nothing like a charming nine-patch to make me smile! This is lovely.

Mouseinmypocket

Lovely, I love that you incorporated more nine-patches in the back.

Thanks Janquilter and Mouseinmypocket ! And I wanted to be Caroline Ingalls from the time I was a girl, Carolmarie . Which is who I should have said I was channeling because she'd be the one making a quilt, not Laura!!

Amanda

CoraQuiltsCarla Oh, I don't know... Ma made Laura sit and do her patchwork pretty regularly!

I love this quilt, and your hand quilting adds lovely detail. I'm a huge fan of hand stitching.

CoraQuiltsCarla

Haha, true Amanda ! But I enjoyed every second of it heartbeat And thanks!

Huntersmom

Love this! Love the colors and simplicity! And, my hat's off to you homeschooling all those kids! What a blessed mom you are :)

Terrysim

I love the modernization of this classic quilt. I really love the back and your hand quilting! I homeschooled my kids, too, but only had 2, so I wish you as many hours of quilting as you can fit in. You deserve it!!

Stonefence

Lovely!

Adorable quilt. Yes, I think Laura could have done it. Used to watch the show regularly and on one road trip visited one of the houses she had lived in. Most memorable to me: the wood stove alongside the "modern" stove; she preferred the wood one.

SewTam

Lovely and so soft looking, perfect for snuggly-ing!
