This is intriguing in so many ways. The piecing is so tidy considering I don't see signs of a single "fast" piecing technique. And I presume a glass-blowing pillow is for the blowing rod? Awesome art for your friend.
Thank you! I used the turn and press method, and the pieces you see are actually pieced onto a foundation square. I started from the middle and built outward until I had the whole foundation piece covered. The two pillows are actually for the glassblowers to sit on while they're blowing into the rod, since before they just had a milk crate and my friend was saying it gets a bit uncomfy.
