I'm going to do my very first quilt-a-long this summer. I've decided on the Impromptu QAL at I'm a Ginger Monkey
. It starts in June for anyone wanting to follow along. I've got my pattern (the Impromptu Quilt
by Rachel Griffith Designs) ordered and my fabric for the front all picked out and waiting for the QAL to start.
Part of the reason I decided to do this QAL is that I had purchased my very first layer cake, Comma by Zen Chic for Moda, and didn't know what I wanted to make with it. Since this pattern uses a layer cake, it's perfect. For my background fabric, instead of doing something boring and solid I went with a "Painted Canvas" print from Laura Gunn's Magnolia Lane line for Michael Miller. It brings out the bits of periwinkle in the prints, without clashing with the greys.
The QAL officially started today! I haven't done too much yet, but I spent about an hour cutting fabrics. I finished the layer cake and started on the background.
