Description

I wanted to make a baby quilt for my daughter's piano teacher and had to do something "quick and easy" since time was running out!  I've never free motion quilted before so finally gave it a try.  For whatever reason, I've been petrified of trying, thinking it was going to be a frustrating experience.  I'm happy to say, the experience was much more pleasant than I anticipated.  I'm definitely a beginner but do see potential for fine-tuning my skills with practice.

This quilt was also the first time I machine sewed on a binding and am not overly happy with the results.  I've always hand sewn my bindings and I like the result much better.  I didn't have time for hand sewing this time around though.  We were able to deliver the quilt yesterday, the day before she leaves town for a move to Seattle.  Phew!  Delivered it to her in the nick of time!!

I'm so jealous of your first attempt at FMQ! It looks great! I tried making simple loops on my first try but they came out looking like psychotic triangles haha!

Thanks for the comments, Readerowl and True ! Joke , I should have taken pictures of my crazy FMQ areas on the quilt. There were definitely a few areas I had to unpick and do over. I completely know what you mean with loops looking like psychotic triangles! I had a few of those. smile
