This project will be an entry for a mini challenge coming up in June. I got inspired by a project I did back in March. My grandson wanted me to make him a fleece blanket, reversible of course, and he selected the fabrics-camo prints! For my contest entry I decided to make him a companion pillow, incorporating quilting. I found the moose face pattern online, and it is a challenging paper piecing project. It is the first time I had to create the pattern myself for the overall design using a bear paw pattern and modifying the scale. I hope the final look impresses the judge! I found several bear paw patterns on youtube and the web, so not sure who to credit for that part.
When I sat down to actually quilt the top, I decided to just use straight lines, radiating to the corners on the paws. The pieces above and below the face, I just did an "X". I did not want to detract from the face so left it as is. The pillow back is the camo fabric.
The moose face pattern is free from the website Four Twin Sisters.
Finished project: 17.5" X 14" (inches)
I found a travel pillow that fit it perfectly
