Floral Rail Fence by corginole
Triple rail fence
This is project 3 from the Quilter's Academy Freshman Year.
More focus on strip piecing and also on creating a pleasing array of colors. I chose a set of fabrics from Moda's Nature's Notebook line, threw in a little Hoffman Gypsy Princess and some Delft blue. Sadly, I did not buy enough of the Gypsy Princess to use that as a border. But I may have enough for a narrow border.
This will be for my mother. The fabrics remind me of the French Provencal fabrics that she likes so much. I do think the top is a little bland, so now that I have taken an applique class, I am thinking about adding some contrasting flowers to the corner for a little variety. I do like the softness of the top and the color palette.
Next steps are, as with my other QA projects, borders, quilting and binding.
