Description

My first attempts at doll making and drafting a pattern. The bodies are made from tea-dyed muslin and have button jointed arms so they are posable. The hair is fleece in assorted shades of brown and is firmly attached to the scalp so it can be braided or styled as desired. The two mermaids went to my older nieces. The one in the blue dress was my first mock-up and stays in my sewing room to "model" new outfits. I still need to make one more for my youngest niece - probably for a Christmas gift this year. All outfits, including the mermaid tails, are completely removable so the girls can have fun playing dress up. Other than the fabric for the mermaid outfits, all of the other clothing was made from recycled shirts & pants.
I'm finding that I'm lousy at drafting clothing patterns, so if anyone has any tips, I'm all ears.
