Description

I made this quilt for my first great-niece. The fabrics are Aviary by 3 Sisters for Moda and  Back Porch Bouquet by Bate and Taylor for Maywood Studios. I used a Kona Cotton solid in Deep Rose to frame each block and give it a little “pop” off the cream sashing. I made cornerstones in my sashing which I think gives the quilt a little whimsy. I pieced the border using left over scraps of the main fabric and bound it with a dainty pink stripe fabric by Anna Griffin for Windham Fabrics. The backing on this quilt is probably my most favorite to date. I used a Minky dot in off white which is absolutely fabulous. It is silky and so very, very soft – perfect for a baby. You can see all the Minky fabrics here. I used a silk batting – warm but light.

I quilted this with straight vertical lines in the sashing, then quilted around the inside of each block.

Size: 47″ X 40.5″

Another of yours I just love (may have even loved it twice as on my computer I have a horrible time with the site and it does its own thing on me!).

Caribousmom

Thanks, True! I love making baby quilts - they come together so quickly!

Love, love, love. Pattern and colors make for a beautiful quilt!

Caribousmom

Thanks, Kirsten!!

Everytime I see a quilt I love it ends up being yours! I think the cornerstones makes this quilt AND the pieced border, AND the striped binding AND the deep rose framing...oh heck, just everything goes together perfectly to make one sweet quilt. Ialso love the pink and green combination. Pink all by itself gets a little too Pepto Bismo if you kow what I mean.

Thank you, Terry! I love making baby quilts...they come together so quickly and I love the sweet little fabrics. I agree - all pink is a little much! I can't take any credit for color choices - the mom wanted pink and green :)

Thanks, Carol...another really fun quilt to make (but then, baby quilts are some of my favorites!!)

True

True Minky is wonderful. I actually bought some in charcoal for a quilt for myself, but have not used it yet!!

Janquilter

Another beautiful quilt! Inspirational!

Rebecca

Thanks for sharing the additional pictures! Can't wait to see what you do with the charcoal minky - my LQS has some and it is gorgeous!

Rebecca

True , good quality minky has a nice soft feel. Skip the stuff at Joann's even though it's about the same price. Keep in mind it's poly so it's going to be warmer than a cotton back and you have to pay attention to your drying temp more closely.

Mymble

Really pretty- lovely -love the colors!

Caribousmom

Thanks Mymble and Janquilter

Rebecca I love the charcoal Minky but I have no idea what I'm going to use it on! So we'll see...

It's fun to go back and revisit some favorites. What a beautiful quilt this is!
Minky sure does show the quilting. The back is lushious!

Caribousmom

Terryt1955 Thanks, terry! I like going back and looking at some of these myself - since this one was gifted, I sometimes forget about it ;) I love that Minky for baby quilts...so soft. Can't wait to see yours!

I just finished basting it and must have used 300 pins. Sure hope that keeps those slippery layers from sliding around!

Caribousmom

Terryt1955 i am sure it will come out beautiful!
