Description

I saw a couple of great quilts made with African fabrics and bought some fabrics. I haven't had time to make a large quilt with any of them but did make this small wallhanging. I used the fusible grid (from Pellon) to lay the 2-inch squares out and to keep them in place before sewing them together. That made this a very quick project and your seam intersections are perfect. I finished it off with stitch-in-the-ditch and hand-sewn binding. It was a fun and easy project and I'm looking forward to making a larger quilt with similar fabrics (but not these small squares)

The colors blend so perfectly - I imagine a larger version will be even more spectacular!!! Great job!!

HawkFan

Bob1414 The bigger one will have quite a bit of neutral background fabric so you'll see the individual African fabrics better. I saw one on etsy that I really liked so I'm going to try to so a similar one. Someday...

Lara-giles

That's beautiful and I love your choice of border fabric

HawkFan

Lara-giles - Thank you! I had the border fabric left over from another project and it seemed like a good fit.
