Carolina Dogwoods by corginole
I took a class with Annette Ornelas at my LQS. This is an intermediate level pattern, which looks harder than it really is. The one part I had a hard time visualizing is the accent on the dogwood petals. Each of us used a different set of colors - so there were some wonderful dogwood blossoms at the end of the day. This pattern/technique provides an illusion of curves without the pain of curved piecing.
Top of panel is pieced and ready for the curves to be added during quilting. The accents on each petal have been pressed into submission and stitched in place.
Centers pieced and pre-curved, ready to become the center of the 9 patch block
