Description

This little tiered skirt is a very easy project.  What inspired it was a purchased onesie I got at a store a few weeks ago.  I was going to give the onesie to the mother to be anyway and then yesterday I was in a fabric shop where there was a basket of "scraps " for 25 cents a piece.  2 of the pieces were fat quarter sized AND the print so cute (and I thought, hoped, they would go with the onesie I knew was at home).

For 50 cents, I took a chance and bought them.

The onesie is quite neutral.  could be for either a boy or girl.  The skirt fabric has the same colors as the onesie and theme (jungle animals), plus has pink and some hearts thrown in, so definitely a girly fabric.  And together, I think they work well!

So I made the skirt, added some eyelet trim I had in the stash and put some decorative heart stitching at the hem.

I think it makes a very cute shower gift for a baby girl!

Giraffes, huh? One of the giraffes at the Woodland Park Zoo is pregnant. I think this will be a bit small though; newborn giraffes are six feet tall.

Siffstitch Well in that case I will give it to Lisa H. for her baby girl. I'm confident that her baby will shorter than 72 inches, If on the off chance, the baby is that big, I will have no hesitation about asking Lisa for the items to be returned to me so I can give them to A.S.

Speattle Perfect plan.

Sweet and the hearts on the hem give it just the right girly touch!

Terryt1955 Thanks Terry. This was a 50-cent gamble that paid off!

Wow! So cute! A half yard of Michael Miller fabric for $0.50 is awesome!

Whatthebobbin sareew Thank you both. watermelon

It was in 2 pieces, but I needed it that way anyway. And as it turns out, the pattern has some seams too, so one continuous piece was not needed for this design. If there had been more of this print, I would have gotten it for sure. I don't know how old the person in your thread-atar is, but she may be a good size for this pattern. Goes up to around 18 months size and seems quite generous.
