My mum bought me a fat quarter bundle for my birthday which I plan on turning into a hexagon quilt for the bed. I worked out that I'll need 1200 hexagons and the fabric bought for me doesn't quite make enough hexagons, so I'm padding it out with some plain cotton in pink, blue, green and white, buying additional fat quarters from the same range in blue tones and raiding my stash for co-ordinating fabrics.
9th July 2013: I started cutting out the hexagons yesterday and currently have 200. I'm only spending a couple of hours a day on this because even though I'm currently unemployed, I am still a busy bee! Kinda wish I could spend all day on it though
30th June 2014: Finally cut out all the hexagons and have started sewing them into strips. I have 35 strips to make and so far have made 8. I can now sew a strip in 30 minutes - I'm not the fastest sewer, but thought I should focus on getting the seam perfect rather than speed. I have a baby due in 36 days so hopefully will get the strips sewn by then and then I can focus on sewing the strips together as and when I have time.
