Description

Two friends of mine have just moved in together, and I am celebrating by making them a wall hanging. So far it is just at the sketch stage.  There will be a centre square in an indigo-blue saltwash batik, and then I will do a couple of pieced borders of simple rectangles in warm colours, terracotta and hot pink and ochre and so forth.  The elephant will be beaded and embroidered onto the central square.  It's probably going to be inspired by Indian embroidery, including shisha mirrors, but I'll see where it takes me.

Update: all finished, and it's been the most enormous fun.

I should mention that this elephant drawing is not all that original. It's slightly adapted from a piece of embroidery I found online. I thought it looked suitably joyful.

The wall hanging design sounds like it will be very colorful, fun and pretty. I like your drawing too. Very fun.
