Description

I decided to jump on the bandwagon of this quilt along organized by Michele Foster, and I'm glad I did! The tutorial for each week's block includes great tips. I feel like I've learned so much in only 3 weeks.

I didn't precut all the fabrics but I happen to have a whole stack of fat quarters in grays and yellows, and I've been wanting to make myself a quilt with those colors for a long time, so I am choosing fabrics for each block as I go, and will add bits of blue here and there as well.

My biggest challenge so far has been squaring up the sub-units. As soon as I get the June Tailor ruler that I ordered I hope that will get easier!

Update 7/20/13:
I got my ruler and I LOVE IT!!! Wow, it makes trimming the HST blocks so fast and easy. I love seeing those points come together in the center of the pinwheels (the FIRST time!).

Update 1/7/14
After many delays I finally got the top of this quilt ALMOST complete. All that's missing now is the outer border. Not sure if I'm going to a solid border or the other option of small squares set in white.

Terrysim

Thank you, Sewhappy and Capetowngirl . I started wanting it to be yellows and grays, but the blues crept in there little by little!

You did a wonderful job! Beautiful colors

Terrysim

Thank you, HawkFan ! I'm putting the final borders on it, then I just have to figure out how to quilt it. That will be a challenge!

True

I missed the update some how...love your top really great blocks and colors!

Terrysim

Thanks, True ! I almost have the borders done and will post another update when I do. Then I have to figure out how to quilt it. I have ZERO ideas right now!

Stitch

You are so making me wish I had done this QAL too! I downloaded all the lessons, but never jumped in. : (

Terrysim

Stitch , I started with the group but then had some things come up that made me have to put this on hold, then I picked it up again but the group was almost over by then. The lessons are so good that you can do it on your own if you want. I have to say that keeping up with the group, though, was a great motivator and it was helpful to read everyone's comments each week to work out the bugs.
