Description

Top finishd on a baby quilt made using Rile Blake's "Fly a Kite" line and Kona in "Curry"

Update 10/21   Finally done- I used Kona "Meringue" and a pieced strip of leftover fabric for the back, and some red polka dot and the stripe from the collection for the binding. I quilted it in simple diagonals using multicolor thread in yellows- Sulky and then had quilted the border in DMC cotton floss.  It has had it's wash and tumble in the dryer...now off to Michelle and her sweet new baby Fiona.

So soft and sweet!

Mymble

Thanks- one of my favorite collections- I am thinking I will hand quilt it- we'll see how life goes... as school starts soon- sigh- where did summer go?????

Kruppcake

Very pretty. I like the yellow border.

Mymble

Thanks Patty- I love this color of kona too- it's one of my new faves!

Quilt455

Love it. I am with Kruppcake; I love the yellow boarder. I love this color yellow and seldom see it used in quilts. Glad you decided too. Can't wait to see how you quilt it.

Laweigel

Love, so sweet! How will you quilt this one?

Mymble

Quilt455 Thanks - I do love yellows- maybe when orange isn't the" new neutral" anymore ( but I do love orange too;) yellow can have it's turn.

I would like to hand quilt it- will see:)

Mymble

Laweigel HI Lori- thanks- I want to hand quilt it-am sort of in the mulling over stage right now:)

Terryt1955

Don't know how I missed this cutie pie! I'm with you on the yellow. It's a softer yet happy version of orange. Did you use a charm pack for this?

Mymble

Terryt1955 Thanks terry, Yes- it was one of those "sitting on the shelf" charm packs I just decided had been waiting long enough:)- I have a few half yards and a large cut of one of the prints as well- so the back will be some sort of pieced back but, if I am going to hand quilt it I will probably keep it to larger pieces.

Caribousmom

Aw, so sweet! The perfect fabric for a baby quilt. And I love that yellow border!

Mymble

Caribousmom Thanks Wendy- "curry" is one of my new favorite kona colors:)

Terryt1955

I will have to see if I can see "Curry" in person. I've been loving one called "Daffodil" or maybe it was called "Buttercup". Anyway, I love the yellows too!

Silsbee

So pretty!

Mymble

Silsbee Thank you- Riley Blake fabric collections are so consistently happy;))) - I think they are my go to company when I need to make a baby quilt- and fast:)

Skynme

Super cute! Love it!

Mymble

Carolmarie Thanks Carolmarie- made my "quick quilt" not so quick but it was worth it:)

Mymble

Skynme Thanks so much!

Mymble

True You're sweet- thanks-this was a fun one to do from start to finish:)

Terryt1955

The quilting is wonderful! Love what you did on the border. Yummy!

HawkFan

Wow the hand quilting just adds so much to an already fun quilt. Makes me want to give it a try sometime

Drnic2c

Love border hand quilting.

Mymble

Terryt1955 Thanks terry- it was really fun to make this- and I had to buy another FQ bundle for myself just to be able to make another one to go in my "Grandmother hope chest" ;))))

Mymble

HawkFan Thanks Audrey- I had big dreams of hand quilting the whole thing but quickly realized that it would take much longer than I could afford...so this was the result and I am very happy with it- tried to keep it a bit loose and playful...not hard to do with hand quilting LOL;) You really should give it a whirl!

Mymble

Drnic2c Thanks Nicole- it does make a difference-doesn't it- I've done three baby quilts with hand quilting and they are always my favorites...I'm hoping I can do the next one entirely by hand.
