My sister's Knicks Quilt by Rivasa
Dress circle from little bits quilting bee
As I was looking through an online fabric shop's offerings, I saw a line of NBA teams' fabrics. I know my younger sister is a fan of the Knicks, and she had asked me to make a quilt with the team's logo and colors for her. I showed her the fabric and she approved of it, so the Knicks quilt started taking shape. I took the pattern from the book Quilting Bee, and modified it. I did not want to applique 37 circles, so instead I took advantage of my circle cut ruler and made the circles part of the block. It took six months of working on it on and off, but I got it done a month before her birthday.
Of course, as such things go, she asked for a mug rug in the middle of the project. I made her one with the leftover circles I cut from the 4 patch color blocks in the quilt. I quilted it so it would look like 'Simon' the electronic toy we grew up playing with (does this comment date me?). She loved it and was the envy of her office when she took it in to work,.
