Description

My daughter's boyfriend doesn't have a home made quilt even though his mother has been quilting for years.  So I decided it was high time he had one of his very own.  He is a fan of mid-century modern so it had to be a modern quilt and I had to reign in my propensity for bright colors to pick the colors of this quilt.  But I'm a huge fan of Cherry House so I loved making this modern quilt for Gary.  The top wasn't very challenging.  In fact the biggest challenge was keeping the cat hair off the mostly black quilt.  It set in the UFO pile for quite a while because I couldn't figure out how I wanted it quilted.  But when I saw the boxy quilting design I knew that was what this quilt needed.  I practiced it on my dry erase board for a while and went for it on the long arm.  I'm pretty happy with the results and hopefully Gary will like it as well.

I like both the pieced design and the quilting design. Many UFOs rest for a reason, as yours did. So nice to fine the right design.

I think this is a great example of the right top meets the right quilting pattern clap

Reminds me of Frank L. Wright designs. The quilting pattern is perfect for it. He will love this!
