Description

This pattern is called "Bright Hopes" from the book "Quilts from the Heart" by Karin Renaud. It was my first experience piecing with partial seams... not very hard on this block!

I used this a leader/ender project while finishing the rest of the blocks and assembling the rows on my design wall in August.

10/27:  This UFO is in the DONE! column... blogged HERE.

Mymble

This is really nice and the blue pulls it all together- what I find so interesting with this is that if you showed me the individual squares I wouldn't see them working together, and yet, once it's all assembled and with the binding it really works- and beautifully so- great job!

Stamdl

Mymble This is very true... I didn't really like the looks of this one until the borders went on! I've got a multi colored thin stripe on white picked out for the binding which I think will finish it off nicely.

Mymble

Stamdl binding sounds perfect!

HawkFan

I'm totally with Mymble here - I think you've got enough blue sprinkled throughout the quilt that the blue border ties it all together. Sounds like fun fabric for the binding

Missriain

This is gorgeous. What a great scrap quilt!

Stamdl

Missriain HawkFan Mymble thank you all! This is a great pattern for using up small 2.5 strips.

True

What a great quilt. How come when I see your scrappy quilts I just love them but when I try to make one I cannot do it?!

Stamdl

True Thank you True and Yes you CAN! What is causing you problems?

True

Stamdl when I try to do my one it gives me vertigo and I then go back to something more coordinated. But I look at this one (and others) and simply love it.

Mymble

Fantastic finish!

Stamdl

Mymble thank you! This is a fun pattern.

HawkFan

True - I also have a hard time with scrappy. Stamdl I love your scrappy quilts but I have a hard time not tweaking things. I haven't done a true random scrappy yet. You inspire me to try it though!!

Stamdl

HawkFan I try to mix up the colors in the blocks and spread out the attention getters like yellow, orange and red when laying out the blocks but once you've made a few you might be surprised at how well they usually work out.

Charwirfs

One of my favorite patterns. You did this oldie justice and updated it beautifully. It just sparkles!

Stamdl

Charwirfs Thank you! They are fun blocks to make.
