Description

First photo is a practice shot using the phone app--"Over"--I highly recommend it!!!:hearts:

I bought the Quick Curve Ruler with a gift certificate I won from our LQS!

Pattern info here.  54" X 72"

The pattern calls for 8 different fabrics. I went with 16.

Quilted with a Windy Meandering design.

Says this at the designer's website:  Disclaimer:

I have found that when sewing the larger curve there tends to be more stretch because of the bias and more curve to sew, which can result in a not so square block.  Be sure to sew 1/4 inch seams.  Spray starching your fabric before you cut your curves out can also eliminate the fabric from stretching.  I personally don't spray starch my fabric.  I just make sure I'm not pulling to much on my fabric when sewing the curves.
This pattern uses the larger curve, and I found the note above to be true. My first two tries didn't work. But the third try was a charm!

Looks great - was it hard to do?

Aizome

HawkFan I'd say it's 2 spools out of 5, with 5 spools being the most difficult.

HawkFan

Thanks! I love the wave look but not sure I want to try another skill right now.

Aizome

HawkFan I can appreciate that! This ruler and patters will be around for a long time to come!!!

Amanda

Oh, I love this! The waves are so pretty!

Aizome

Amanda Thank you, Amanda!!! It is a super fun pattern, and I love the look of curves, too.

Your choice of fabrics is superb.

Aizome

sisterhood Thanks! Don't you just love picking out fabrics for a project?!!

CLS17

Great job! I have this ruler but haven't used it yet.

Hmmm. I imagine by the end of doing this quilt I'd know how to do curved seams! I like it a lot and I have an ocean themed quilt in my future. Adding this to the potential ideas...

Aizome

CLS17 I recommend doing the tablerunner pattern that comes with the ruler first. It's free and you can get use to the curves in a small, quick project. There are also 12 free block tutorials for a sampler on the designers blog, SewKindofWonderful, if you go back through the months. They're there for a limited time. I recommend them, also!

I've never seen one like it before. Nice job!

twistedandloose Thank you! Check out the designer's blog: sewkindofwonderful.blogspot.com

There are so many uses for this ruler, it's crazy fun!!!
