Doctor Who Quilt by Seeneed
I'm in an art quilt group which is affiliated with the guild I belong to, Tablerock Quilt Guild. We were working on a project and it started with the direction, put a shed on a small background. I decided this was the perfect opportunity to do a Doctor Who quilt which I had been contemplating. So I got some interesting dark blue fabric and stenciled this interesting time piece stencil on the background with shiva paint sticks. I then found some blue fabric for the TARDIS. My drawing skills are limited to stick people so I struggled drawing the TARDIS but with some ingenuity and transparencies I got a passable "shed". Then I went to the computer to print out two color pictures of my favorite Doctor Who and his companions. I appliqued them on and tried a little thread painting on Rose's hair but I wasn't thrilled with that effect so I didn't continue it on the others. Then I quilted the cogs that were part of the stencils and with some straight stitches and a special cog like stitch. That is the 10th stitch I've used of the 240 decorative stitches on my Janome. Then I added a couple of crystals to sparkle it up a bit. It was a fun project.
