Kyle's T-shirt Quilt by Seeneed
My cousin asked me to make a T-shirt quilt for her son as a high school graduation gift. Her older son had gotten one and she was making it a tradition in their family but the woman who had done the other quilt was no longer available. So I agreed to make the quilt for her. I'd done one previously for my daughter so I knew how to do it. She sent me a bunch of T-shirts and had even purchased 4 brand new ones that she wanted in the corners of the quilt. She also requested that I embroider her son's name and high school in the center block. My mom has an embroidery machine so she agreed to help me out on that. I looked over the shirts to figure out what I had and put a design together. Then luckily most of the shirts were blue and gold so I ordered the fabric and found some awesome interfacing to use. Once I got everything figured out it was a really easy quilt to put together. I was nervous about quilting it since I'd heard t-shirt quilts could be tricky but I took it slow and did a simple meandering pattern and had no problems. I think it turned out nice and my cousin was happy with it.
