Description

I impulsively purchased a layer cake of Bungalow by Joel Dewberry and then began looking for a quilt pattern for it.  'Framed' from Camille Roskelley's Simply Retro really appealed to me for this fabric, and I realized that the white jelly roll I recently purchased on sale would be just the thing for the frames.
I decided to give myself a birthday treat of a sewing day and did all the cutting and some of the sewing. Completed sections were on my design wall for a while, but I had to move them to make room for a couple projects with deadlines.
June: Terry asked about my progress on this one, so I put it back on the design wall and completed the top. I have fabrics for a pieced backing and for binding.

this is going to be really pretty! I just love Camille's
Simple Retro book. Can't wait to see it in process.

True

This is going to be awesome and sounds like Happy Birthday is in order as well;-)

Happy Belated Birthday!! Don't know how I missed this but wondered if you've made much progress? I've bookmarked this pattern for my Lotta Jansdotter layer cake but that's about as much progress I've made!

Terryt1955 I have one row of framed squares and one row of sashing put together, lots of other framed squares (pinned with row number and order) and a couple rows of sashing. It's time to get it out of the plastic bin and put it back on the design wall. Some of the layer cake squares were not a full 10 by 10, but it is going to work out ok.

I'm wondering if Joel Dewberry is a Windham designer? I've bought 2 jelly rolls from Windham fabrics and experienced the same problem about them not being a consistent 2.5". Sheesh, I thought that's why we purchased pre-cuts in the first place! Can't wait to see this quilt evolve though. I'm sure it will be beautiful in Bungalow. How's Wendy's border coming along? I went looking for it last night but got caught up on this project. (I'm easily sidetracked).

Readerowl

Terryt1955 Coming. Really. Sidetracked? I can do that.

Wow this is beautiful! God I hate when precuts aren't cut right!!

Terryt1955

What a great quilt top! This pattern really shows off Joel's fabric nicely. I just love Camille's foresight to not cut up beautiful fabric into unrecognizable pieces. This is a winner and one more project I'm going to copy for sure!
