Description

Between retiring and moving and all of the other quilting I did for everyone else last year, my personal project kind of fell to the way side. I now have my studio to a point that I can get back to work and have decided that starting tomorrow or maybe this weekend that I'm going to pick up where I left off and I'm going to finish this quilt. The top row is together.

11/4/2013 - Today I managed to get some of the lead out and completed the second row. I was on such a roll, that I was going to tackle the third but then got hung up trying to build fussy cut blocks and get them 4 1/2". Maybe the brain will work better tomorrow, and I'll get rows 3 and 4 finished.

11/5/2013 - A few hick-ups(country humor) but managed to complete the 3rd row.

11/07/2013 - Alright since I didn't finish row 4 yesterday, and I had to take apart row 3 today for modification; after it had already been sewn to row 2, I'm claiming double points. I'll be glad when the borders go on.

I love all your fussy cut blocks.

Good for you to get back to your own projects! Why does this bring to mind the movie "Dances With Wolves" even though there is no wolf? You have done a great job framing your fabric!

I think it's so important that we quilt for ourselves. It keeps us focused and fuels that artistic passion. Great job! I can't wait to see how it comes out.

Love the variety of blocks. How big will it be when it's finished?

jandcembroidery

HawkFan it should finish out to about 80" x 90"; maybe more depending on how I decide to border it. It has a lot of fussy cut blocks from a panel of Texas Words and images that currently is straining my brain on measurements. I must have pieced one yesterday 4 different times before I got it right. Hope today runs smoother.

Skynme

Good luck! It's going to look amazing when it's done.

On the plus side (pun intended), straining the brain with the math/measurements keeps it young tongue

jandcembroidery

HawkFan my brain got dismissed from class long before I did. I started today off doing the exact same thing, shorting myself 1/4" from each side. I realized my mistake this time; it's 1/2" seam allowance each side smirk I managed one more row completed today.

True

This is an amazing quilt...and so agree with others quilting just for us is so important!

Skynme

Look at you cranking out that quilt.

jandcembroidery

Skynme yeah, just think. If I did a row a day how many quilt tops I could turn out a month.
