Birthday Card for Lisa 2012 by Speattle
Embroidery & Embellishments
Not sure what category this goes into. It is strip pieced, embroidered and embellished, and I guess decorative.
I saw this idea online recently (I think it was here?) and decided to make a quick card for my sister in law's birthday. I sewed directly onto blank card-stock with narrow strips in my scrap box. Then I wrote her name in disappearing ink. I threaded perle cotton into my Elna sewing machine, and left regular all purpose thread in the bobbin. I covered the feed dogs, took off the presser foot, lowered the foot bar and free hand stitched over the name. Then I hand sewed on a little floral embellishment.
I glued a solid piece of card stock to the inside cover of the card to cover stitch lines.
I almost hate to give it away!
