Your points look fine to me!
I like it! It took me forever to learn how to trimming/squaring up things...it messes with my brain. But once you get it it sticks!
I agree. It all looks pretty crisp. Classic old pattern with an updated look. Love the colors.
Love your colors! When I was doing the Aiming for Accuracy quiltalong I bought the June Tailor Perfect Half Square and Quarter Square ruler. It makes trimming those blocks a breeze!! (And it has slots to trim from 1-1/2" to 6-1/2" squares). I don't run out and buy every gadget that comes along but this one was totally worth every penny.
Thanks +Terrisim. I had googles last night how to trim those QST and one of them was raving about the same ruler you spoke of. I might just have to invest!
Terryt1955 I have not tried it for these...I use my regular 6" square for QST's but have just got hang of it with time and trial and error. I have not made any QST's since bought bloc loc but will give it a try and let you know.
Terryt1955 Ok i came home and made a QST really quikc and yes you can use your Bloc Loc to square/trim it up.
oops quick not quikc
Thanks True . That's good news. I guess I wasn't patient enough. Will have to re-try it on mu own Ohio Star. Do I hear red & white?
Your block looks fantastic. I don't have a special ruler to cut HST or QST. Do I need one? I started my block and when I got to measuring the QST to size they were too small and I have had to pull it all out. Grrr... Was not best pleased as I am limited to day time sewing because of the black and thought it was all going so well.
Capetowngirl I haven't figured out how to trim them right yet but I do know you really have to use a very scant 1/4" seam to make the block a 12.5". I believe if you make the HST's bigger to begin with by the time you get to the QST's they'll be a tad larger so you have something to trim down. I hear you on the frustration part!
