Description

I'm brand new to paper piecing but after attending my first meeting of the St Louis Modern Quilt Guild, I got inspired to challenge myself! I signed up to do the Riley Blake Challenge and had to find a pattern that could use some prints from the fabric line. I only have a few weeks to finish so I didn't want something too large or complicated. (Then why paper piece you ask! I know, right?) Well, after spending some (ok, a few hours) time online, I found the Circle of Geese block along with these very easy instructions at Sometimes Crafter http://sometimescrafter.com/2009/08/tutorial-paper-piecing-block/. I gave it a whirl and am very pleased with how it turned out. I plan on making 4 different blocks of gray and orange, piecing them together and machine quilting them for a wall hanging.Seriously, I LOVE this block!

Here is another tutorial from Chasing Cottons http://chasingcottons.blogspot.com/2011/10/circle-of-geese-block-tutorial.html I looked at several different blogs to build my confidence.

Here is a Flikr group of all types of Circle Geese motivation!

This is beautiful! It's on my list of things to do for 2014! Thanks for the tutorial.

Well I think you underestimate your natural talent at paper piecing because I don't think I'd consider this easy. I've always admired it but thought no way I could pull it off. If this truly is easy I will be forever in your debt!

Terryt1955 Give it a shot. This block is made up of 4 small blocks that have 9 pieces each. The part I love the most is that you don't have to measure! Once you get the hang of almost thinking backwards...it goes quickly. I did this block in less than 45 min.

I so like orange and gray, and this block. I have not seriously considered attempting it. Maybe in 2015!

This turned out really well. I love your color choices.

Love this color combo and great block! I so love paper piecing and the results...and yes not measuring is awesome. This block is on my to do list I think as a pillow!

I like your block a lot--good luck with the other three.
