My eldest daughter wanted placemats and napkins made by "Mom" for her Thanksgiving table (yes, I'm invited). I had no trouble finding the pattern and fabrics . . . but my daughter is VERY particular about what's in her house and we have totally different tastes so . . . . . . it was quite awhile before she had time to pick colors.
After I sent her the Essex Linen plethora of choices she finally decided on Steel Grey, Natural and Rose. She wanted four of Grey and four of Natural with the bindings matching. I used Kona Steel Grey and Kona Natural. For the napkins, she picked Simply Color gray leaves from my stash (viewing them via FaceTime). I used a video tutorial by Sew Modern for the mitered napkins. It's a quick and easy way to make beautiful napkins!
Now this is my daughter who is extremely gifted in design but she waited until a few weeks ago to make her decision and then said to me, "But Mom, are you sure you'll have these done"?
Ugh . . . I had quite a few other projects I wanted to finish but I figured this would be quick. It is a very quick pattern but the quilting felt like it too forever. I even used my "start" button without the pressure foot but I started to doze off a few times and found my lines wavering.
I finally finished and just in time as we are off to Portland for Thanksgiving . . . the placemats and napkins are all pressed and packed. I'll take more pictures of them on the Thanksgiving table.
