Description

So this is the quilt for my Baby. It took me a while to settle on a pattern, but the minute I saw this on Pinterest I knew this was the one. I'd already picked a colour scheme from Design Seeds.

I've decided to piece the quilt using the English Paper Piecing method and I'm making 12 blocks then adding a few borders to bring it up to size. The size is limited by the amount of the background fabric I had on hand - because I wanted to start this project immediately! I had a meter, so did the maths.

By yesterday I had made the first three blocks and decided to go shopping for borders, backing and binding fabrics, so I could incorporate the fabrics as stars as well. I've picked a Art Gallery Pure Elements in Citron for a narrow border to frame the quilt. I hadn't planned this border in, but as soon as Nicola suggested it I was sold. I'm then going to have a wide border of Luxe in Bloom in peachy-pink, and the binding is another Pure Elements - Quartz Pink. For the backing I've picked Moda Essential Dots in a lovely bright green (white spots).

All of the fabric is cut, lots of hand sewing ahead of me.

28.01.2014: The top is completed. I've hand stitched together all of the blocks, added three borders by machine and then hand appliqued on the final 7 star points. I just need to baste it and find the peach perle thread I bought at the weekend for the quilting.

13.02.2014: finished. And before Baby arrives!
