Description

I had some leftover charms of Blitzen  and the Peppered Cotton in Garnet from Studio E, from the Pretty in Patchwork Reindeer Grove Pillows, so I did a smaller version of "Gumdrop" from Pillow Pop as a quick way to try it out.   The charm version works great with the template traced to size from the book. I loved the pattern and will definitely do another to the size in the book. Very fun to make...and I did a Wendy zip on the back:).

I love Blitzen...wish I had hoarded it:))))...very sad to use up my last scraps but these pillows will all be staying here so I will get to enjoy them every year:).

JudyBR OH you have that right- those little stray charms were just stanng up at me and this pillow had to be it:)- glad I did:)

Mymble

Sewhappy Thanks- love Blitzen...I do wish they would bring that collection back:)

Mymble

Quilt455 Thanks- I love the snowmen too...I am definitely going to do more- I want to do one in the size of the book pattern, but the charm size- about 10" square is really fun and would make cute little gifts so I may do some more of those too- just have to see how much I can get done...the heart and fingers are willing but time seems to be flying by- not quite sure how I would up in December??? Quilterinmotion Thanks Marsha-and yes, get a copy and join the fun- it is a nice book ... Readerowl ...you definitely must- very fun to make! cally68 Skynme Thanks ladies

I'm impressed Margaret!! I tried doing the curves using the exact pattern from the book and mine ended up kind of wonky. It didn't help that I was trying to iron the seam towards the opposite direction! That may have been the cause of all the wonkiness? Did you end of trimming your square once you joined the 2 curves?
This pillow is so darling! All it needs is a little Elf-on-the-shelf perched on it and you're ready to go viral on Pinterest!

Quilterinmotion

cally68 , Amazon has it for $6.95 for the Kindle version which would work great for me with little storage space for books and magazines. I'm on the fence about it as I don't really have space for pillows but it would be fun to make them for my daughter.

Mymble

Terryt1955 Ha Ha- looking for the elf as we speak;))) Actually I didn't trim them at all- using a charm square meant they were smallish so I wanted every inch:) and they lined up well. I'm not sure about the ironing- did it say concave- Mine liked to be ironed in towards the convex and they all just sort of flipped that way without me having to coax them, so I didn't argue with them...and everything went together with no problems matching up so I guess it was okay. My very first pair was a bit wonky but I think I was just rusty as I haven't done them in 2 years I think...had to get the technique down. The last time I did circles I just winged it with no pins...this time it worked really well for me to iron them, as they say to do, then just pin each end and the center- they all just lined up and did their thing- I was a bit surprised actually...but not displeased:)- we'll see if it all goes as well in the larger size.

Quilterinmotion Sounds like a good deal- can you download the templates from a kindle book? It has occurred to me that many of these pillow fronts would make great table runners- just extend the design- or placemats- I think they are very adaptable that way. I also think they could be tote bag panels- at least half of them that I can see would be really cute as a bag- just a thought- as like you, I may have a pillow limit here too-Wendy and some others too I think, mentioned that many of the pillow covers are the same size, so essentially you could make a lot of covers and simply switch them on the same pillow form- I can't with this little mini version but I know I will do that for some of the others.

Carolmarie Absolutely Carol, a maxim I follow especially for clothing- I think if they hadn't all flipped as nicely as they did...that would have been the next logical step...and may still be when I tackle the larger size...I have a feeling the larger the circle the more TLC they may need to lay down nice and flat:)....we'll see!

Quilterinmotion

Mymble , that's a good question. I guess I didn't really think about the fact that there might be templates in the book. I was thinking measurements would be given and that would be that. Does anyone who has the book know if there are a large number of templates in the book? That would definitely impact my purchasing it as a Kindle as I don't think I could do any "downloads" as my Kindle is an older one, not the new fancy ones.

Mymble

Quilterinmotion I'll go count...but it's at least several pages...

Mymble

Quilterinmotion 4 pages of templates, used for 9 pillows.

Readerowl

Quilterinmotion - I have the Kindle edition and they give you a website online where you can go and download the templates to a computer and then print them. It works well.

Joke

I love it so much!! So great seeing these in different fabrics. I have some charm squares that I'm going to try this in for some practice for this pattern; what a great idea!

Mymble

Readerowl sounds great- didn't know this even existed!

Mymble

Joke Thanks and ....Yay!- Can't wait to see what you come up with:)

ArloDeanQuilts

This is so stinking cute!

Terryt1955

Carolmarie I thought you had just watched Groundhog Day and that's why you kept repeating yourself! LOL.

Mymble

ArloDeanQuilts Thanks:))...Blitzen is such a great line and has what may be my all time favorite snowmen:)- at least so far:)

Mymble

Carolmarie HA HA- no problem Carol- I've had that happen too- you hit comment and then when it appears it's duplicated...go figure:)...glad you like the pillow:)

Mymble

Terryt1955 LOL_ one of our favorite movies:)- and we stopped in Punxsutawney this fall on the way home from Oberlin and got to see Phil and got a pic of my hubby on Gobbler's knob checking out Phil's tree stump. Funny thing we found out though- the movie was actually filmed in Illinois because Bill Murray's father was ill and he wanted to be closer to him while shooting the movie.

Quilterinmotion

Readerowl , thanks so much for that information. I will go ahead and buy the Kindle version then. I'm off to sign up for the Sew-Along and to get my book! Mymble , thanks for checking on the number of templates. Nine pillows of templates would have been a lot to miss but I love knowing that the templates can be downloaded on line. They've thought of everything with e-books, haven't they!

Mymble

Quilterinmotion So glad you will be part of the fun Marsha!

Quilterinmotion

Now comes the hard part....choosing what I have in my stash that will make a nice pillow. I do have a lot of oriental fabrics that were given to me. I will be making pillow covers, mostly, for my daughter and she does like oriental fabrics so maybe that's the answer for Gumdrop anyway. Thanks, gals, I'm sure I will enjoy this. Now off to read the Pillow Pop book from cover to cover so I'll know where I'm headed!

Terryt1955

Quilterinmotion I can so sew Gumdrops made up in oriental fabrics! Can't wait to see your version and Welcome to the group!

Quilterinmotion

+Terryt1995, thanks for the prompt. I do have plenty of orientals but will need to add some light fabrics with it. We'll see!

Kathie

Too cute! Just love Christmas snowmen!
