Description

This is a soft sculpture I made for my MFA thesis.  It's the skeleton of a juvenile wild turkey (Meleagris gallopavo), also known as a jake.  The gingham heart is removable because I think I am clever.  The organs are felt and the bones are linen over a wire armature, embellished with embroidery floss and yarn.

You should seriously enter this into a local fair. I think it is amazing.

I think you win at sewing. Patience, at least.

Very cool! Did you have a model to follow? Whatever made you think of this? Did you pass?

Robynie

Chrissybugs For reference an actual skeleton to look at would have been fantastic, but I relied only on a couple photos printed off the internet. My thesis was all about turkeys so this was just another derivative of my subject. Yes, I passed! :)

Sewzalot

Yes, you are very clever. That chicken-oooops I mean juvenile turkey is just amazing. I have never seen anything like it before. I love the heart. Congratulations on passing!

Raelynns

wow, this is amazing!

I love these type of sculptures. I saw a life size "Day of the Dead" couple at one Craft show that was also amazing! Your thesis seems much more interesting than mine was smile !
