Adorable fabrics! If you want to showcase them, you might consider Moda Bake shop's Jungle Path baby quilt pattern:
HawkFan Oooh! I almost think I need to get more of the foot prints fabric for that one, to use as the "paths"!
I love dinosaurs! And recently found out I'm expecting a boy! I love all the dinosaurs fabrics - I can't wait to see what you create.
Ooooh - the footprints would make great paths - what a great idea!
Have you thought about a "i spy" version with the fabric? you could frame it with a coordinating solid for example :-)
libellenart If I had a bigger range of dino fabrics I would love to do that but I only have these plus a couple in my stash! I do plan on doing a regular eye-spy with random novelty prints surrounded by solids though ...one day!!
Can't wait to see how this turns out. It will be adorable!
HawkFan I just hope my friend doesn't think it will look too childish (she'll be 29!!) but she is currently hatching a dinosaur egg that dissolves in water (a toy she received for Christmas, soo... heh).
I also found the foot print fabric in yellow with more pink/purple feet prints so I bought that instead since I thought it would contrast with the mostly "boy" colours for the dino prints!
I see :-) I am glad you found more of the foot print fabric. Looking forward to see your progress on this quilt and the final quilt itself!
Really cute block!
If your Canadian friend doesn't want it, I'll take it!
What adorable fabrics! I like the footprint path on your block. Such a cute idea.
Has your friend commented on it via Instagram? Looking forward to seeing this develop
The square you have here is perfect, because the larger dinosaur could be Albertosaurus, named after the Canadian province it was discovered in. If you have a basic hadrosaur ("duck-billed dinosaur) with no crest, it could be Edmontosuarus...named for Edmonton!
This is great! I love the idea of the spiral quilting also. Your friend is going to love this, great job!
Very clever quilting idea.
This is fantastic- the fabrics are fantastic and your quilting idea is perfect!
So how cute is this!?!??!? How fun. I loved that movie!
This looks great , Love what you did with the fabric !!!
Great progress and so nice of you to include a kitty in the photo so we know how big the quilt is
This is wonderful...and love kitty. Sashing is tough, I have gotten so I use cornerstones with it to make it easier to line up. But truth of the matter this not going to be hanging on a wall, it is going to be used and loved, and no one will know if the sashing is perfect.
Looks like you have a saber tooth tiger loose on your Jurassic path lol. You quilt looks amazing she is going to love it.
Cute quilt!! And I see the kitty is going hunting for Dino. And like Mary says, the sashing not being perfect won't be noticed. The cute fabric is what everyone focuses on.Great pattern to showcase your prints.
HawkFan lol! I'm trialling a new measuring system "paw lengths". I need to make sure I have 2 claws seam allowance
True I thought about using corner stones but I was too lazy to cut up and sew such itty bitty squares (my sashing is 1" finished between the blocks). I haven't really done anything with sashing before so I guess it's just another thing to learn!!
Skynme LOL! She'll attack you with purrs and cuddles rather than growls and chomping! I hope my friend likes it! She's seen it on instagram (not knowing I'm making it for her) and she hasn't really commented on the quilt itself, but then she's not a crafter so she probably hasn't really noticed these things anyway!
Terryt1955 I'm not sure who won -- the cat or the dinos. After uploading my picture I came back to the quilt top and found it in a ball on the floor!!!
It looks great as it is...a fun and colorful quilt!
This is such a cute quilt. Your quilts always looks so different,
