Oh, is this the bee you were thinking of putting together after the kerfuffle??
What an interesting block!! I just had to look at the tutorial to see how it was pieced as I couldn't work it out just looking at it!
Joke Thanks! I had no idea how to make this block either until I dissected it frame by frame on the tutorial. Now it makes sense.
"Kerfuffle", I like that word! It was voted to stay state side :( or you would have been invited.
Bugger :( maybe next year
or the year after?! Being so close to the New Year gets confusing!
Wow love your fabric choices...this is gorgeous. And I found this block not to be as easy to make as it seems it should be...once figure out how it works! Tutorial is excellent just some interesting aspects. And Joke if we go international you are in for sure!!!
Love your fabrics Terry! I'm glad to see a couple of examples (yours and True 's) to get some ideas. Good to know I'll need to be clear-headed to make it!!
Love it, Terry - good fabric choices! I have no idea what I'm going to use on mine!!! Stay tuned :)
Joke You bet, 2015 it will go International! And doesn't that sound like years from now?! So weird when we're still in Dec 2013.
True I know what you mean. It wasn't as bad as the scrappy string star block though. I don't think I swore once but I definitely ate a lot of cookies throughout the process!
Caribousmom Hurry up because I want to see what fabric choices you come up with. I'm sure it will be beautiful! Made me realize I need to buy more greens for my stash.
HawkFan Just don't plan on making it in an hour and you'll be fine. Then again I am a slow sewist. Can't wait to see what fabrics you pull!
I've got a couple fabrics pulled just now - no real turquoises in the mix - I went with more navy blues...
Terryt1955 Hmmm, it's my purples that need replenishing - guess I used them up in other projects. But I can look forward to the stash stack for January from Pink Castle Fabrics- it is the purple month! (love your star by the way)
Carolmarie For me I had never dealt with little triangle pieces and fitting them in just so. It was a good learning experience for me since you have to be real careful with all those bias edges. I tend to treat my pieces like a bull in a china store and iron the crap out of everything. If someone knew how to convert this to a paper pieced pattern I would love to try it that way!
Terryt1955 I could convert it to a paper pieced block for you in EQ if you want. Send me a message if you want me to. Good job!
Terryt1955 It is here: http://www.pinkcastlefabrics.com/pages/stash-stack-club I was given a couple months of stash builders and added some myself. I get a fun assortment of fat quarters in a different color group each of my months.
Jodyrose OMG that would be the bomb!!! I'm off to pm'ing you right now.
I didn't know EQ did pp patterns as well?!
Readerowl Thanks! What a great way to add stash and have a little Christmas all year round! I'm checking it out....
Readerowl Oh My! Just checked it out and can't decide which way to go, Full Stacks, Half Stacks, FQ's. Half Yards! How were you able to select only a few months?
Readerowl I have lovingly looked at the stack club and wondered if it was worth it...you are making me say it just might be;-). Yes which size did you get? And + jodyrose you are brilliant I did not think to covert to pp...I would love it if you do it!!
Carolmarie it is suppose to be fun and a learning experience and this was both so you are just fine with this choice!!
HawkFan Its not difficult at all! The main thing is you have to be able to break the block down in segments. This one was EASY PEASY and even though I cant be part of this group, I plan on following along with the blog. What you do is draw the block in EQ in patch draw and then go into the print function to print as a foundation pattern. Once you are in there you can number/group/move blocks around before printing the pattern. I will send to you and Terry! Stay tuned to a mailbox near you :)
this block is incredible....love your fabrics
Jodyrose you rock as I loved this block but did not love making it enough to do too many...but with pp I would be so happy!
True Do you need me to send to you or has Terry sent it over? If so pm me your regular email address as it will be 2 attachments and I cant send them here.
Why can't I type using my Kindle Fire when trying to send a pm but I can comment on a Project Page? The keyboard keeps, disappearing when pm'ing.
LOL sure Carolmarie, just pm me your regular email address.
I also got the pattern from Jodyrose - excited to try it when I get a chance. I did a lot of sewing with triangles/bias edges with my Moroccan Tiles quilt. I didn't have too much trouble with stretching as I was careful but like I said, I think I'd like to try both methods. Carolmarie - you're a very accomplished seamstress - the partial seam would be a piece of cake for you if you go that route. That's what I plan to do.
Jodyrose Thanks for the pp pattern!! Can't wait to try it. And if it's a breeze making a whole quilt in these will be fun. I just love stars!
Terry - just realized (just now) that you and I used the same jewel tone blue fabric in our blocks! LOL - great minds think alike!!!
