Description

My cousin is getting married in September, and my mom asked me to make her a quilt as a wedding present. Let's be real.... I would have done it regardless, but mom offered to pay for the fabric! Yahoo!

When we visited their place last summer, I took mental notes as to what would be good in their place. Their style is more modern (with a ton of photography - her fiance is pretty good!), and their apartment is full of grey, blues and purples.

We decided on the beach glass quilt pattern out of the Quilts Made Modern book, and it's going to be queen size. I started cutting it in December, and I've come to realize it is a butt ton of cutting. :S Nothing crazy or anything, just a lot of tiny pieces to come.

I normally post pics on facebook too, but this time it's all here to keep it secret. :)

Edit: June 24/14 - holy cow.... This quilt is deceivingly hard, lol. Well, not hard hard just tedious. I get tired of working with the same colours in what seemed like an endless stream of blues, purples and greens that never got any smaller in the pile. Well, after months of working on it piece meal, I decided to sit my butt down and do some every day to get it done for end of Sept. The pile looks a little smaller.... ugh.

Edit: July 27 - done the top! The hard part is over :D Now just to drop it off for quilting and bind the sucker leisurely next month, lol.

I have this book and have considered trying the quilt ..but smaller than queen size. I love it. Glad to see someone doing it. Glad we don't have to wait until September to see any pics!

omaTam

I'm so happy to see someone making this quilt. I"ve loved it since I first saw it in an ad. Those colors just call to me and someday, I'll have to make it. Very nice, Emmajb .

I have seen a finished quilt using this pattern an it was so gorgeous. So sorry to hear how tedious it is. Hang in there and I'm sure your sister and bil will flip over it. It's definitely modern!

I have this pattern earmarked as collecting beach glass was a childhood (and still is) pastime for me growing up in Maine. Beautiful quilt.
