Description

Here we go...

After reading about the masses of jellyfish in our oceans clogging up nuclear reactors, I decided a jellyfish would be the subject of my next quilt.

Last night I stayed up late and made my flat design.  It's all I have right now... but it's a start, and that's great because I'm jonesing for some hexie action.

As planned, this quilt will be 24" wide x 48" tall using 1/2" hexies.

*Feb. 3, 2014* A good start on the hexie-making - have about 350 made in 10 days, need about 2000 before I start piecing them together. Happy to have my used hexies from the dragon to re-use, I can make many extra and have more options when laying them out in the future.
*Feb 8* 600 hexies made!

*May 19, 2014... long time since I posted about progress, but I just finished making all the hexies needed, including the border hexies (white and cerise). For the last few months I've been working on the layout of the blue hexies, and finally am happy with it and have committed. No more moving hexies around... it's time to stitch them all together!

*July 14, 2014*  Thanks for your patience  I stitched all the rows together, and I recently started joining the rows! The quilt is starting to come together! Working on my whip stitching for the row joining.

*Sept 19, 2014 - The top is DONE! Woot Woot!  Time to contemplate the quilting!!

Jenniesthreads

You may, quite possibly, be mad! But a good kind of mad - I look forward to seeing this quilt develop - that will be a lot of hexies!

sew_what

Wow. I can't imagine how patient you must be making all these hexies. This quilt looks like it's going to be awesome.

HawkFan

you are fast with those hexies!

Gail

I started with hexies in 2010 and I have 2 finished hexie quilts. This one is my third quilt... and I'm going faster with this one than with the other two. I think practice makes you faster wink

crimsonrabbit

Exciting plan! EPP is totally addictive, isn't it and I agree - practise does make you faster! Looking forward to seeing how this one progresses. Apparently, the Japanese have started eating the problem jellyfish - hope they taste good wink
