EXIT long sleeve T-shirt 2014 by Speattle
Embroidery & Embellishments
My 2 year old grandson has a minor obsession with "EXIT" signs. Like the kind you see lit up in commercial buildings to show where the exits are. His great aunt found him an actual one at a garage sale, and my son (the PhD student in Electrical Engineering), wired it up for his room.
Using this shirt (since my grandson's sign lights up in red), that I got on sale at Old Navy for $2.49, I made an applique by first cutting the sign shape and then cutting out the letters and letting the red shirt show through the negative space. I fused it on first, and then zigzag stitched around the outside edge of the sign and the edges of each letter.
I hope my little grandson loves it when I go to visit him next week.
Update: He did LOVE it! Was so excited when he opened it and realized it had an EXIT on it.
