The blocks are wonderful- are you planning to introduce some new ones as well? Blue and white is such a lovely combo- can't go wrong with that at all!
It looks great so afar...can't wait to see more.
Mymble I have six more blocks on hand, but I'm going with the layout I have, imitating the layout of the block.
The way you related the layout to the block is very effective! (I had liked the layout before I read your explanation; now I like it better.)
Clairealex Thanks, Claire! Trying to get away from "the same old same old", if you know what I mean!
Aizome I sure do. BTW I visited Japan about 7-10 years ago when my daughter lived in Akashina. We couldn't schedule it for the big quilt show though.
Clairealex Is that in Nagano? Hope you found some fiber goodness and saw some beautiful scenery, not to mention the wonderful Japanese hospitality! Was your daughter a JET by any chance?
Aizome Yes, Nagano. Yes JET, but also studying flute at the Suzuki Institute in Matsumoto. We covered a lot of territory, saw cherry blossoms, Koyasu, Nara, much more.
Beautiful layout! You really have a talent for layouts with your quilts. You could make matching pillows with the extra blocks.
cally68 Thanks, Cally! I pieced the extra blocks together, along with a label, to make a strip across the back. Great idea about the pillows. I'll keep that in mind for next time.
The dark gray really sets off the blocks and I also love how your mimicked the block design in the layout. Very creative.
Very cool layout and lovely quilt in the making!
Your layout designs are so creative. I'm going to remember your ideas and try to think outside the box for my future quilts!
Love the grey...and love the idea behind your layout - it is really great!
Don't know where mine is going to be stored yet! It's currently leaning against the wall in front of the dining room sideboard. As long as it's in use, that's where it is staying.
