When I went to the Quilt show in Long Beach, CA a few years ago I saw a quilting technique that used 2" squares as a quilted background for applique work, called Watercolor. I loved all the colors it introduced. Unfortunately, when I put this together I used too heavy an interface to lock the squares down, so sewing the applique to the background is proving to be very tough and the shapes have too many small turns and twists that I can't do it on the machine. So this one gets worked on just every once in awhile. To create the applique patterns I used my Cricut to cut out shapes on shelf paper and then I stuck the paper to the fabric so that it was easy to pick up and cut the shapes out. I did this all before I knew about wonder under.
But it will be nice when done :)
