Description

Here a couple of examples of the sailboat block I would like for February. I would like you to use light blues or grays for the boat and sails and solid white or white on white for the background. I want it to be a sort of low volume quilt. If you have any questions, let me know.

4/4/14 update - Here are all the blocks I have received. (terrible photo as I don't have much natural lighting in my sewing room - The blocks are actually white not off white) Aren't they beautiful? I will add a few more. I'm thinking 24 blocks, so a 4 X 6 layout. I'm now playing with the layout. I think I like the idea of kona white sashing with pinwheel cornerstones. I saw this quilt on pinterest and they cut one of the boat blocks at an angle and had one ship sinking. It cracked me up and with my sense of humor, I just may do that.
*Update 5/11/14 - I've been playing around with a layout. I think I'm going to go with this one. I saw something similar in a magazine and I changed it a bit. I really like the diagonal stripes in the background. This is going to be a large quilt (queen size) So it will be 6 x 8 blocks. Here are the first 4 rows.

I agree. I love the soft colors of this block and can totally see this being made up as a baby boy quilt.I hope everyone keeps to your low volume request.

True thank you! It will be a quilt for my new vacation home on the lake. I'm decorating with a nautical theme.
Terryt1955 thank you. It would make a great baby boy blanket.

But such a waste on a baby quilt. So glad you're going to use this at the lake house to enjoy for many years. Just beautiful!!!

Thanks True and HawkFan . This is a horrible photo. My daughter is home from college so I'm back to sewing in the basement. Her room has much better lighting.
