Description

2/13/14
I am a late addition to this hive. I was asked to replace someone who was unable to complete last month's block.

January Queen, Menolly13, wanted a specific churn dash.  Love her color and pattern choice. Because I am home for yet another snow day (my 3rd this week) I thought this was a great opportunity to catch up. I hope the queen likes her block.

February Queen, Cally68, wanted a low volume boat block.  Her colors are baby blue, grey, and white.  Unfortunately, I am a bright fabric person.  I searched my stash 2 times over with no luck.   I have baby blue, just not light baby blue.  Then the light bulb went off. Fabric has 2 sides.  I took one of my bright fabrics and flipped it to the other side.  The light baby blue color is perfect.  I hope my queen likes it.

March Queen, Sewhappy, wanted a bright, scrappy star.  March was an extremely busy month.  I was grateful that the block came together so quickly.  I also found out that we are both California girls. It's funny how far away from home we each have travelled. I am glad she likes the finished product.

4/12/14
April Queen, Jcourtney, wanted a bright colorful starflower.  I really enjoyed making this block.  It was actually on my short list for bee blocks because of all the pretty, bright colors that are in it. The plus about this pattern is that since you are making half square triangles you get two blocks for the price of one.  Yay me.

May Queen, Legogirl, requested a granny square block.  She allowed us to use up scraps.  She charged us to use any colors and fabric we wanted.  This is going to be a great scrappy quilt.  I can't wait to see all of the blocks once they are assembled.

June Queen wanted a disappearing nine-patch with pinwheels in the corners. She wanted low volume for the other squares. She also wanted pink, orange, or green for the pinwheels.  I sealed the envelope to mail it to her, before I realized how bad the color is in the only pic I took.  I hope she likes it and doesn't get discouraged when she sees this pic.

July 2014
July Queen, Victoria wanted the Economy Block or the square with-in a square.  We used the tutorial from Red Pepper Quilts:

August 2014
August Queen, claireepoppins, wanted a maple leaf with autumn colors and low volume background fabric.

Thanks. Even though the fabric looks a little orange in the picture, it is actually raspberry one of the colors on the Queen's list.

Menolly13

It's lovely, Nicole, thank you! I love your fabric choices. And orange is on my list too, so you'd be good either way. :)

cally68

I love the sailboat! Very creative to get the baby blue color! I too am a bright fabric person and "low volume" is a bit out of my comfort zone but I really wanted to try it and I think all my hive mates have done a fantastic job! thank you!

danadane I love that fabric. I need to make a fussy cut block for myself, before I give it all away.
