Description

My quilt friend in Japan, and I did a SAL using this pattern in the fall of 2012. Hers is a wallhanging.

I quilted her quilt for her in November of 2013. Now I'm quilting mine. Mine is full size.

I used a fabric bundle that I bought in Japan--at a Shibuya department store--Treasure Box line by Chuck Nohara. Chuck is a famous Japanese quilter--a woman who took on the nickname of Chuck while living in the USA for a few years in the 80's. Also some fabrics by Junko Matsushima.

I did a lot of my piecing in a hotel room, evenings, while taking a quilting class in a large city.

I'm using my latest favorite quilting pattern--figure 8 quilting. Check out Denyse Schmidt's quilts--it's her signature quilting design. LOVE IT!!!

I used a pieced binding--each piece is 12" long!!!

FINISHED!!!!

This is going to be gorgeous...love your quilting in a hotel room!

Mymble

So beautiful...love love love it-- ok...so, can this be a traveling quilt...can it say...visit my house for say...oh...forever or something like that?

Aizome

True Thanks, True! It gave me something to do when I was alone in the evenings in the hotel. A classmate went to the casino-- not for me! I'd rather spend my money in a quilt shop, then sew.✂️

Aizome

Mymble LOL, mymble! Sure!!! Honestly, don't know where it's going to go yet. I get so attached, but I don't need this many quilts. I give some to our local Bible camp quilt auction.

HawkFan

Gorgeous and I know what you mean about fabric shopping instead of the casino!

Mymble

Aizome Well it is truly lovely:)- and I would imagine it would fetch a lot for the kids at the auction- a very good cause...we do a similar thing for our school every year- I've always done jewelry... since our schedule has been so crazy but I may just be able to pull off a quilt for it this year!

Aizome

HawkFan Thanks! And amen on the quilt shop VS casino!!!

sew_what

Wow! What a gorgeous quilt. I'm impressed you can quilt in a hotel room. I'd probably lose track of some of my pieces if I took my sewing projects on vacation.

Aizome

sew_what Thanks!!! Makes being in a hotel room alone bearable!?!

Love that you whipped out a quilt in a hotel room instead of wasting time at a casino! What a great pattern too not to mention the fabric. You brought your sewing machine along as well right? Don't tell me this is hand pieced or I'm going to quit!

Aizome

Terryt1955 Haha!!! You gave me a good laugh today! I brought my portable Elna with! My friend, Yokii, did hand piece hers, but it is a lot smaller.
