Description

I am due in 11 weeks with my baby boy! When I saw the tutorial for this super easy zig-zag quilt made from charm squares, I had to try it! I wish Moda would do some Bella Solids in pinks so I could make a matching one for my daughter! Sorry for the poor lighting, the colors are white, robin's egg blue, and navy blue.

2/20 - Here is the quilt top. I plan on simple quilting 1/4" from the zig-zag seams, to really make the zig-zag pop. I'm going to back it with Kaufman Cozy Cotton Flannel Alphabet in Navy. Not sure yet about the binding.

3/9/14 - Done! I love how this little quilt turned out for my soon-to-arrive baby boy! I kind of want to make a pink version for my baby girl! (Always another project, huh?)

Love it! I just finished my first chevron a month ago - here's how I quilted it: 1/4" on either side of the seam, then also in the middle.

So cute! Love the colors you chose for this. Congrats!!! Definitely a pink one for Big Sister is needed :D

Msminnesota , Your quilt looks great! You did a lot more lines of quilting than I did. My quilt was small, and I was so ready for it to be finished! My lines ended up about 2" apart.

Skynme , Thank you! I used Bella Solids charm packs, so I was really limited on my color choices. I would have to buy yardage of pink for a Bis Sis version. Still considering it! The flannel comes in gray, so if I did a gray, light pink, dark pink chevron, they would be very similar! So cute! Sounds like this mama might not get anymore sleep. Ever! ;)

Love the color combination you chose and I bet the backing will be much loved. Yes, make one for big sis so she doesn't feel left out although just giving her a real live doll to play with should be exciting enough! Good luck on sewing with 2 little ones under foot. My fingers are crossed for you!

Msminnesota Loved your chevron quilt also! This is definitely on my to do list.

sareew Most companies don't have a lot of variety in their solid precuts, but I think if you found some cute charm packs in prints this would be just as cute. I agree Mom's don't get any sleep Ever! Good luck!
