Your daughter picked a wonderul selection of fabrics. The blocks look good on the design wall. Lucky daughter!
I agree great, classy taste...this is going to be beautiful and will be timeless... This would be a great quilt to start your FMQ adventure on;-)
And I meant to mention I think those are some of the best pressed block I have ever seen ;-)!!!
True you crack me up but yes I do love my new iron! I'm having a hard time getting motivated on working this "timeless" quilt because in addition it's rather a boring quilt. At this point in the year I crave color! Thanks for the classy comment.
It is timeless and classic (& classy). At least it goes together quickly so you can move on to more colorful quilts
Your daughter has great taste! I love this quilt!
HawkFan Good point! I need to "just do it" so I can start something bright.I was playing with my stash tonight picking out bright colorways for your march block so that was great therapy!
ArloDeanQuilts Thank you. I know she's going to be pleased with it if I'd just get the lead out.....
Terryt1955 Sometimes I have to take a side trip in to another project if I need a break. The bee blocks are a great way to do that. I was happy to be of help LOL
You are doing a great job on this one, Terry. And although I know it is not your choice, your daughter will love and cherish it!!
Carolmarie Thanks! I still have to sew all the blocks together before I decide on how I'm going to quilt it.It only looks assembled because of the design wall. I think I'll cop out and go with an echo quilting 1/4" away from each block's seam.
HawkFan LOL, yes your lovely star block was a great diversion. And I do think I'll be copying it for a baby quilt I need to make!
Caribousmom Yes I think you are right that she will love wrapping up in it when she's so far from home. A mom hug!
Perfect description - "mom hug"
Caribousmom Thanks, and I can't wait to get my hands on that border fabric. When ever I see this quilt I'll think of you!
Terry, you finished!! This quilt looks so different in person. I love it. It is so pretty..the fabrics are beautiful. Since you didn't use layer cakes...must have taken awhile to cut all those pieces!
Conniharns What the heck are you doing up so early??? It does look a lot different in person doesn't it. Pictures are only so good at capturing a quilt. Did you finish the baby quilt you were working on at our Girl's Weekend? SO much fun! (Okay, quick, what song are you singing right now?)
Terryt1955 I am singing..."I watta go to sleep!!" I was awake from 2-4.. Should be a great day at work! Yes...this quilt is so beautiful and you don't see the richness of the fabrics in the pics. Yes I did get the back pieced on Makinleys quilt. Got batting yesterday..another 20 yrs ..and it will be done!
Conniharns Sounds like a Diet Coke day! Just keep on singing to keep awake. I expect Makinley's quilt to be done in 1 month! Don't make that baby wait 20 years!
I love this quilt and wish I COULD see it in person! Great job.
Carolmarie Thanks Carol. It will probably measure 91'x91" once the borders are on. And knowing me I'll straight line quilt it probably a 1/4" from the seams. I just don't have the courage to try FMQ on this thing nor the shoulder and neck strength!
True ROAD TRIP!! (or do you call it that when you fly?). Somehow Plane Trip just doesn't conjure up the same images
I thought since we were going with the movie theme, "Planes, Trains & Automobiles" was appropriate. Oops, I guess I should have used two of each to have plural. Funny that there's no quilt emoji on this site
You ladies are cracking me up!!
I have to second what Conniharns said - this is an amazing quilt in person...the photos do not do it justice...and just wait until you see the border fabric...oooh la la...lucky daughter you have, Terry!
Caribousmom The fabric came in on Wednesday and I didn't find it until last night as I was going to bed. It was buried under laundry. Imagine that, gone for 2 weekends straight and there's laundry heaped on the couch to be folded. And it's going to stay there while I quilt some more!
It's already fabulous...dots or no dots! Can't wait to see it finished.
Border looks beautiful with the quilt!
That border is PERFECT, Terry. Love, love, love!
Such a perfect border fabric!
Love that polka dots ...what a perfect addition. I really love this quilt!
Yeah you do all the work on the front and then have to turn around and put something together for the back too.
Hmmm, the back. How about piecing a map of Italy? LOL - joking! I'm sure you'll come up with something fabulous :)
Caribousmom - or how about all the places she's lived! Sorry Terry, I couldn't resist piling on. Feeling ornery tonight I guess
Holy mocarena, you guys sure are creative! Needless to say I won't be piecing a map of Italy! I'd settle for just using up my leftover scraps!
This quilt is lovely, she is going to cherish it forever.
All I can say is still gorgeous!!
