My Dad's Birthday and my parents anniversary are both in March. I wanted to make them some items that they could use for their kitchen. The fabric is Bon Appetit by Whistler Studios for Windham Fabrics. The fabric has roosters on it and there is this fantastic panel I want to turn into something...maybe a wall hanging. I didn't use any of the roosters on the table runner, but I want to fussy cut some for the trivets. Hopefully it will work.
The first project is the Harvest Vine table runner from the book Pretty in Patchwork by John Q Adams. I loved this table runner from the moment I saw it and knew I wanted to make it one day. The gumdrop pillow from Pillow Pop SAL was really helpful in getting me comfortable with curves. I managed to get everything cut and pieced today, finishing up the top. Tomorrow I am going to try and knock out the quilting and binding.
Another project I want to incorporate in the gifts is the Happy Hexagon Trivet from the book Patchwork Please by Ayumi Takahashi. First attempt at paper piecing and I am so happy with how it turned out. May have to make some for myself.
3/15/2014 I was finally able to finish the gifts for my parents. They wont make it for their Anniversary, but they will be there before my Dad's birthday.
Beautiful job on the table runner!
I love this table runner...cannot wait to see your other projects as well!
Oooh yeah - I love the hexie too. Great job on the paper piecing
Wonderful gifts- you did such a great job on these and the fabric is wonderful!
HawkFan Thanks! I just finished the other one. Now all I have to do is quilt and bind everything and my projects are done.
Mymble Thank you! I really love the trivets. I think these would make really quick easy Christmas gifts this year instead of trying to make quilts and totes.
Skynme Absolutely! I love how the design really highlights a great focal print- these definitely go on my list of "Want to Make":)
The trivets are wonderful!
Very cool! Love the rooster theme. Thanks for sharing.
I love the rooster trivets. Great complimenting fabrics. What size are they?
Great job on everything! Those hexi trivets are perfect, and I love your tablerunner! I'm sure your parents will love them. (You've only been sewing for a year???)
omaTam Thank you! Yes, I started sewing Dec 2013 and have been learning so much from the ladies on this site. Everyone has been so helpful and sweet in my learning process, I feel as if I have come a long way in a year.
Gardencrafter I'm sorry, somehow I missed your post the Trivets are about 8.5" from flat edge to flat edge.
Really lovely gifts you made, and great job on the quilting!
