Description

March 2014 is my month as Queen for Newbee Hive #7, and I have chosen the Scrap Jar Stars block.

I am using the following tutorial: http://alittlebitbiased.blogspot.com/2012/01/scrap-jar-stars-tutoroial-giveaway.html, the block will finish at 12" (12.5" unfinished). Your blocks will end up at 12.5"

Please do not trim your blocks as I will do this when I put the quilt together.

Colors: My color inspiration is the Aviary 2- Saffron color way, Brown, Orange, Aqua, Cream and Light Tan. I also added another picture for color inspiration that I loved. (I know this one says the dark brown is red, but please no red). I would like the background to be Kona Snow if possible, if you do not have this on hand please try to use a creamy white or white.

Siggy block: I would like a simple 4 patch block for my siggy block. Cut 2- 2" background squares and 2- 2" colored (prints) squares. Sew them in a simple 4 patch (just like those that are in the center of the block you just made). Please sign them and send them with your block.

If you have any questions please ask and I will try to answer them as best I can.

I am excited to see what everyone comes up with! Happy Sewing!

05/02/2014 Top is together with the nine blocks I received. I am still waiting on two blocks but went ahead and put this together so I can send it off for a charity donation that is coming up. Now to get a back done and get this quilted so I can send it off.

Love it! Can't wait to get started...

libellenart

Are you going to mix Hive 5 and Hive 7 blocks? Sure would look great together :-)

ArloDeanQuilts

libellenart I had not thought about mixing them, but that is a great idea!

beadqueene

oh, I see where you're going here. I agree with @libellenart these and Hive 5 blocks would look amazing alternating! Maybe it's just b/c you chose the same color scheme, but they would work so nicely together :)

Aizome

Really great color combo! I never would've thought of the brown in there, but I heart it! Love the block, too.

Aizome

Where did the color inspiration photo come from? I've recently discovered
design-seeds.com, but this looks like it comes from somewhere else.

ArloDeanQuilts

Aizome , I just did an internet search ( aqua, orange and brown color schemes) and this was one of the pictures that popped up. Sometimes its easier for me to find color combos that way. I like design-seeds as well though, lot of good ones there.

Stlcaverly

Love love love how it came together! It is so neat to see all the blocks and how well they just blend! Very nice- your charity will be very lucky to receive this!

True

What a beauty this one is...

Aizome

Wonderful. Just wonderful.

Terryt1955

This came out so pretty! I didn't see the secondary design until it all came together. So sorry to hear that 2 of your hive mates didn't deliver. Where is the accountability these days?

ArloDeanQuilts

Thank you Stlcaverly , True , Aizome , and Terryt1955 , I am excited to get the back made and get this quilted.

Drnic2c

Great quilt top! I love the color palate.

Charwirfs

Wow! Those blocks really look great together. I like the pattern it all makes. So nice to see the finished top and view the whole scheme.

After seeing these all together this is now on my to-do list. They look great!
